I have to be honest, I never thought I would be posting an article that had anything to with the Village People. I mean they were soooo yesterday, as in “decades” ago. But here goes…
Randy Jones, the cowboy, from the original Village People has posed for Playgirl’s 35th Anniversary issue in January, ‘09. Jones last appeared in in Playgirl in 1979. The new issue will feature both old and new shots of the ex-cowboy. “I’ve got balls, big ones, to allow two pictures of myself taken thirty years apart to be placed side by side for comparison,” says Jones. It’s unclear at this time whether not Randy drops the hat – we’re sure we’ll see soon enough.
On a side note, I remember my parents playing the song, YMCA, at one of my birthdays as a kid in the early 80’s. ….little did they know! For all you VP fans out there feeling a little nostalgic I’ve put together a playlist for your enjoyment. So take a peek, it’s still fun even if Village People ain’t your thang!
