As of today, a video I posted on YouTube titled Sarah Palin Chose Not To Be Gay has received nearly 100,000 views. I’ve been having fun and some frustration with the comments. Today one such comment sparked some fun thoughts. A viewer said…
“She isn’t a human being like me, I have a brain.”
My brain ran wild with a few fun ideas that resulted in a parody of the Wizard of Oz song, If I Only Had A Brain. The result was the following rewrite of the song.
Sarah Palin — If I Only Had a Brain
I could plow away the hours, contortin’ with the powers
Coercin’ with the main.
And my head I’d be scratchin’ while
my plans were busy hatchin’
If I only had a brain.I’d unravel every question for all the reporters,
no trouble or any strain.
With the thoughts I’d be thinkin’
I could be another Lincoln
If I only had a brain.Oh, I could tell you about Russia and Alaska.
I could think of things I never thunk to ask ya.
And then I’d be President, and make some rules I betcha.
I would not be just a nuffin’ my head all full of stuffin’
My mind all full of strain.
I would shoot and make a killin’

If I only had a brain.
I wasn’t going to publish this now but then I saw an article (I wrote the previous post on this) via Andy’s blog, Towleroad. Andy titled his post something about the wicked witch of the west in regards to the skywriting by prop 8 proponents. That’s when I decided I would produce a parody song/video. I searched to see if there was already something similar out there before I wasted any time on production. I found the the video below. It’s called If We Vote To Have McCain and is written and sung as a parody to If I Only Had A Brain.

While this video is totally different it made me realize that my idea is a little too late. If I started on it now and posted in a couple of days then it would be like pouring salt into a wound if McCain/Palin loses – They will lose! I’m not one for kicking anyone when they’re down so I’ve ultimately decided against making the video (at this time). Instead, I thought I’d just put the words out there. At least that way it’s done before they lose the election and not after. That’s about as nice as I can be after all the dirty campaigning in this election.
Not all is lost though. I’m sure the time will come when a video with this parody will be worthwhile. Until then, my dear….
