This just in – JK Rowling, author of best selling Harry Potter series read from the final book tonight at New York’s Carnegie Hall. After a short reading of “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows,” she answered questions from the audience.
One question that came from a member of the audience asked if Dumbledore ever finds love. Her response: “Dumbledore is gay.” After a brief period of shock and a gasp in near unison the audience broke out in cheer.
One attendee says, “I was just there and it was amazing. The audience’s reaction at the ‘Dumbledore was gay thing’ was so funny. Some people were clapping, others laughing, cheering, or some had their jaws wide open in disbelief. But all in all, it was awesome.”
Rowling explained that previously Dumbledore had fallen in love with rival wizard Gellert Grindelwald. Dumbledore had defeated Grindelwald long ago in a good vs. evil battle. She goes on to say that Dumbledore’s love was his great tragedy.
At one point Rowling said, “If I had know this would have made you so happy, I would have told you years ago.”
She also said that she had to make a correction for Director, David Yates, during a script reading of the sixth film, “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.” The error; Dumbledore was reminiscing about a girl he once fancied. Rowling crossed it out and slipped a note stated “Dumbledore is gay.” In tune with the audience and her fans she said, “Just imagine the fan fiction.”
Rowling said some do not like her work and this will mostly likely give those another reason. She is most likely referring to Christian groups who have taunted the movie because of it’s wizardry and spell casting.
Grindelwald was a Dark wizard before Lord Voldemort and his only mention is in Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone on Albus Dumbledore’s Chocolate Frog card which notes that Dumbledore defeated Grindelwald in 1945.
Rowling apparently once claimed that there was a connection between Grindelwald and Hitler (hence the 1945 date of defeat); she has said before she likes to imagine a connection between the wizard world and the real one.

And, yeah the Dumbledore gay rumor has been around for awhile now. But its cool that Rowling was so “raw” with her announcement. I love a girl who knows how to spark a little controversy. haha
