Lance Bass Outs Justin Timberlake In “Out of Sync”

Lance Bass, former member of the sensational boy-band N Sync talks about hiding secrets. He says he imitated the other band members to hide his sexuality. Bass says, “I totally blocked off the gay part of myself.”

Bass wasn’t the only keeping a secret during the days of N Sync according to Lance. Lance Bass says Justin Timberlake knew he was leaving the band but never told them anything. Bass says it never occurred to any of them he was being groomed to go solo. “When you really look back at it, with the song ‘Gone’ ya know, it was just him, no one else had any leads – nothing, it was just his solo record,” Bass tells ABC’s Elizabeth Vargas. He continues, “But never did we think it was grooming him to become a solo artist, ya know so that he wouldn’t go back to N Sync.”

Justin Timberlake tells Barbara Walters in a 2002 video clip that he would like to make another album with N Sync. Lance Bass says the group waited for a year to make another album. During which time Justin kept promising them every few months they’d do another album together. Elizabeth Vargas says Lance Bass feels Justin never had any intention to rejoin the group.

By the way, even though Elizabeth Vargas never addresses the name of Lance’s book (in her interview) which is “Out of Sync.” It’s clear they just wanted the Justin story and a tidbit on Lance’s coming out story. Click on the photo above for the full ABC video. The book is available at Amazon.
