If you don’t know what Clipser is, it is a YouTube-like video sharing site. The company promises its users a piece of the pie once the site becomes successful enough and they sell it for big bucks. The promise is 10% of the sale, giving each user a cash amount equal to the value of their Clipser dollar account. Clipser dollars are earned by posting videos, viewing videos and how many times your uploaded videos are viewed. There are other ways but those are the most important. But that’s not why I first joined Clipser.
I first found it earlier this year when I mistakingly got hooked on Big Brother 9. I swear I had no life until every last houseguest was evicted on that show. Clipser was the site where a user was hosting videos of Crazy James and his huge dick… Of course being a gay man, I wanted to see these things.
I thought the site was cool enough so I signed up and hosted a couple of Madonna videos when her latest album came out. Videos on Clipser get far more “views” for the not-so-popular user than they do on YouTube so it was fun at first. My first uploaded videos got about 20K views in the first week and then stopped. I didn’t really know why and didn’t care, it was just fun.
Then about a week ago I was searching for the Marcus Patrick in the Shower video on YouTube only to find it had been deleted. This didn’t really surprise me. We all know that YouTube is notorious for flagging and removing gay content [I feel an impossible boycott is in order]. A further Google search only led me back to the removed video. Finally, after digging deeper and deeper I struck gold and downloaded the it myself.
As a reward for my hard work I decided to turn to Clipser and upload the video so I could post on my blog without having to use the killer bandwidth to support it. In the meantime I also decided to create a new user group on Clipser that I labeled GayClips.
I really didn’t expect much from this new group or Clipser in terms of getting views. I really just did it to have a place to put videos that I have downloaded. But I was surprised. I had added eight videos within about an hour. Within three days most of my videos had near or over 50K views and high ratings. Of course I thought “Maybe there’s a lot more gay viewers on the site than I thought”. With that thought in mind I decided to upload another video and promote my new GayClips group. But when I did something strange happened.
All of a sudden as if running into a brick wall, the views on my previous videos stopped completely with the exception of a few that were sporadic. Then my new video started getting a mad rush of views and is at 28K as I write this. Clipser currently has nearly a million subscribers so the number doesn’t surprise me but the systematic process they’re using does. In a nutshell it is stupid. It is obvious to me that when a user uploads a video, that video is considered new and listed as such. Apparently when another video is uploaded after a specific time frame then it knocks the previous videos completely out of the running. This is stupid because the videos should remain there until they naturally fall off when they reach a certain age and not because you upload another video.
I did a little research and found that some of the videos with a high number of views are those by users that hasn’t uploaded since. I’m not really sure what’s happening but a lot of those videos do not even have comments. Are the views fake, just to create numbers…Hmmm? Probably not, but it makes you wonder.
But wait…There’s more. There is no support forum. They don’t update members on what is going on. They are all about marketing, now dubbing themselves as the mobile phone video site. The TOS is totally whacked. It says no pornographic material. Yet, you can upload erotica and must be over 18 to view it. It is an undistinguished and very thin line. You can’t search within categories. The main search engine sucks rotten eggs and has a mind of its own. Oh…and one last thing, the random logouts and more recent problems logging into to the site. The bottom line; Clipser is stupid.
I thought maybe it was just the script. But it’s not. The script Clipser uses is from Clip Share and is available for $200. The same script that powers GodTube.com and PornHub.com. Heh, I’ve always wanted to use those two sites in the same sentence. Anyway, my point is, they don’t have these problems. So, either Clipser has chopped their code to pieces or they’re trying to pull a fast one..or maybe both.
Now I’m stuck with $270,000 Clipser dollars while looking for a better alternative. Too bad I can’t use those fake dollars to buy my own script from Clip Share.
If you’ve stayed with me this far, it’s time to reward you with another of my favorite Marcus Patrick videos — On Stage.

Thanks for asking
personally i love clipser.com and i think the reason why your videos get thousands of views and no comments is because viewers are viewing your video from other sites who embed your clipser videos.Because of this users dont get the chance to comment on your videos.all the hits you see youtube viewers get is not only from youtube its from other sites who embed the videos.i hope this help you

Thanks
You might be right but the reason I said otherwise is because I uploaded that a set of videos all within about an hour. I didn’t upload any more for a few days. When I uploaded the next set which was only a couple (I think) the views on the others stopped in their tracks. I just found it odd.
Of course if I opened another account and tested it again, I’d probably find out for sure. I may just do that. At least I’d know for sure then and could report back here.
Thanks for you kind words
No problem!!im not gay but its a nice blog you got going here.

Wow! Spam with a gravatar – nice! Because of that originality I have not deleted your comment. Instead, I have removed the comment link and edited your url link back to my homepage. Thanks for the comment.
[...] writing about him when something new and worthy comes to my attention. There’s another post on here that includes the YouTube pulled shower video as well as one of Marcus stripping. [...]
@Loverman –
I like clipser for the main reason it doesnt take your stuff down. Your (the author) whining about it but note that you too went to clipser b/c you could find what you wanted… All sites have downsides. Youtubes unfair, random, conservative policies make no sense and are draconian. My videos get taken down for copyright but i search and find 100’s of the same person with 100’s of thousands of views…what gives. Who cares we have clipser yt can shove it. They dont post your gay content and they take down mine for arbitrary copyright enforcement. So….shut up.
: D jk

@mal –
I didn’t see “Loverman” whining. I’m the only that’s been whining about Clipser on here that I can see (haha). So I think your comment was for me.
Anyway, you make some very valid points and I agree with all of them. Except the indication that Clipser isn’t a fraud. I still like them too though! LOL
Hi
I have a clipser question. I have over 100 videos on clipser but can’t figure out how to search just in my own account. Is there and easy way to navigate? If I could even alphabetize them that would help.
Why is clipser so slow?
i agree with you on the fake views….only a million users…and my videos hit the 5000 view mark in one day…something is up with that
In response to ronnieward1973 it does not matter if clipser has 1 million users. Thing that counts when it comes to views is page/video impression. The main factor in why clipser videos get so much videos views is that ALL videos gets placed on the home page for a certain amount of days which enables all videos to be seen. I did some research on Alexa.com and notice that clipser is currently ranked 15,000 on the web. A site which rankes 15,000 on the web is ranking in an average about 400,000 daily visits.Now if you check it 400,000 * 31 days = over almost 12.4 million monthly visits. Now please be remined that those are visits and not impression. I estimate that clipser gets over 2 million daily page impression. So I hope this answer your question on wether the views are fake or not.
Oh yea also be reminded that if your videos are embed on other sites the views on that site will be also counted.
Good points, lover.
