DNA Says this is Michael Phelps – Really?

Australia’s DNA Magazine posted the above photo on its blog claiming it is record holding Olympic gold medalist Michael Phelps. The photo is part of a ‘guess who’s crotch this is’ feature on the site. The comments suggest the magazine is in error and we agree. Unfortunately the scan (photo) is not clear enough to be exactly sure who this is but the only real resemblance to Phelps is perhaps this swimmer’s pecs. Otherwise everything about that photo screams that it’s NOT Michael Phelps. That goes double for the DNA’s featured area – The Crotch! Sorry, DNA but that cock does not belong to Michael. Unless it was heavily ‘touched’ in PhotoShop!

So far there is no proof who this beautiful body really belongs to. You would think that DNA would have included the full scan that displayed name(s) to go along with the photo. It’s obvious this was lifted from another magazine. Which one, when and where remains a mystery for now.

I should clarify that I am an avid reader of DNA Magazine and usually have the utmost respect for the publication. But this time… Well, they goofed big time.

I wouldn’t even touch this story if I weren’t a huge football fan. That being said, here goes…

ManCrunch Super Bowl Butt Shot

Today I heard on my local sports radio show that a dating site called ManCrunch.com is trying to get a commercial spot on this year’s Super Bowl. This was on a Dallas station and I was pleasantly rewarded with little to no overtly adverse reactions from either the radio hosts or the fans who called in to discuss the topic. I’m sure there were “other” calls but most likely they carefully screen their calls – It is Dallas and for the most part the entertainment industry here is gay friendly/tolerant. That said, there were naysayers but mostly with the position the commercial is inappropriate for the Super Bowl because it doesn’t normally attract a gay audience. Of course there were also the concerns fo having to explain that to kids. That along with others who feel all “advocacy” and or political ads should be kept out of all sporting events.

Sorry to say but no one is getting it – The ManCrunch commercial is not geared to towards the gay community at large, nor is advocating gay rights though it does strongly touch on the stupidity of stereotypes. Clearly it is targeting closeted gay men or those otherwise curious. Sure its meant to shock the viewers, all of them. But more importantly (for the business) it’s meant to stick somewhere in the back of that dude’s mind until his wife is asleep late at night as he types in ManCrunch.com on his computer.

ManCrunch is owned by Avid Life Media. The same company that owns AshleyMadison.com, a dating site with a niche in adultery. They’ve done the Super Bowl thing before with that site and were banned. They also got tons of media coverage from CNN, Dr. Phill, Ellen, The View and all the major networks. They’re certainly not wet behind the ear when comes to stirring controversy and profiting from it. They have nearly 6 million members on AshleyMadison.com to prove it.

Avid’s pockets seem to run deep as well. In 2007 they acquired Hot or Not for $29 million dollars. So all you guys out there saying (Towleroad, Queerty, JoeMyGod, ETC) this company probably doesn’t have the bank to fund a Super Bowl commercial better think again. More importantly, do your research.

This past December Avid offered Tiger Woods a contract for $5 million to endorse AshleyMadison. Of course he didn’t accept but talk about feeding off controversy. These guys are pros.

ManCrunch is obviously breaking new ground in that its targeted market is closeted gay males. Remember, their strong points are niche markets. It’s a smart move too as it stands to the reasonable belief there are many more closeted gay/bi-curious men than those who are out and proud. Get with program peeps, that closet is still pretty big and it’s chock full of men urging to get off with other men and that’s exactly what ManCrunch and Avid Life Media are banking on.

By the way, for all you that didn’t get it – that’s what the “down low” is all about on their Site – keeping it secret.

Oh and the black dude in the commerical. Of course its intentional. He’s got a fried chicken leg in hand. Then there’s the butt-load (pun intended) anti-gay props on the wall in the name of signage. At the end of the commerical we’re asked the question, “Why not?” The entire ad is full of stereotypes and begs to throw them all on the table at once as if to imply it’s all stupid, meaningless social ignorance. So it’s okay to venture out of the closet and hook up with many, many, many other men who want to come out and play. That also answers the question to the cheesiness of the commerical itself. In my opinion, it’s a brilliant marketing move. The company wins whether it gets its Super Bowl commerical or not.

What it does for the LGBT community is another story and will remain unanswered until we see the fallout of it all. Personally I don’t see it doing much harm. It doesn’t really matter what pro-gay ads are run on television or in what taste they are presented. Whatever the ad may be, anti-gay organizations are going to counter them and pick them apart and throw them out as chum to their frenzy of hate feeders. I’ll probably get called out on this but if Avid is going to do this, then I’m glad they put the black guy in the commercial. What that says to me is that homophobia is just as stupid as racism.

CBS has officially rejected the ManCrunch Super Bowl ad. Let the rage and outcry begin and it does – talks of double standards and gays boycotting CBS are ensuing on the interwebs. Congratulations are in order for Noel Biderman of Avid Life Media for another well played ploy at controversial marketing. A couple of days ago no one knew of ManCrunch and now it’s the talk of the town, especially with gay related blogs and news outlets. Think that’s enough? Not so fast. ManCrunch is now asking LGBT equal rights groups to step up and fight the rejection of their ad based on discrimination.

Strange Gaydar Cycle Snap

Most all of us gay boys have a built-in gaydar. The thing is we never know just when it’s going to go off. It could be while walking down the street and random dude gives you the gay-eye. You know what I’m talking about. The quick once-over with a brief pause to grab a mental snapshot in hopes to analyze what you’re packin’. That the obvious blip on our gaydar screens. But what about a photo? Can our gaydars go off by looking at a random public photo without seeing the motion, seeing the glances, checking out the fashion statements, watching the walk, hearing a voice? I think so. Check out these two cute gaydar blips with their lightweight jackets tied around their waists – adorable, aren’t they?

First, the blip on the left is obviously looking at something on on his cameral. I’m going to assume it’s a video. He looks like the kind of guy that likes taking action (assuming he’s a bottom) so, uhm yeah, he’s checking out a video he took before a cyclist passed him by. Again, assuming… Checking out the crotch action as the rider’s legs go up and down, up and down forcing the constrained manhood in side to side motion.

Now check out the blip on the right. Whoa! That’s a serious look, man! Hell, even his camera has got an erection. Look at that lens. It’s fully extended. But… This blip ain’t looking at his camera. No, the assumption here is he’s (most definitely a top) watching his hot and tight desire ride off into the sunset. He’s boasting that wanting, longing, hungry stare while every stroke of the peddles flexes two muscular ass cheeks.

Wait.. What? You say. Who’s ass cheeks? Tom Boonen, a Belgium Cyclist star. Here’s what our two blips are checking out. Check it…

Yes, that’s Mr. Boonen working those sexy thighs. He’s standing on the peddles so you know his ass is tight and firm. And… yeah… Those two blips on my gaydar are totally checking him out. How do I know? You’ve got to see the big picture to understand. Here it is.

At first glance one might think all these guys are spectators simply watching a cyclist cycling his way down the pavement. The truth is none of them are actually watching him at this instant in time except for one. It’s blip number two as explained before. He’s totally fixated on Boonen’s body pumping that bicycle. If this dude had laser beams for his line of sight there would be a beam on each ass cheek burning holes in those spandex cycle shorts. I’m being serious here, peeps. Don’t believe me? Nice Boonen butt indeed. But, ouch! Looks like he’s kind of banged up with the bruises. This last photo must have been taken after his accident a couple of years ago. Bruises or not that’s a nice ass, baby. I think I’ve got a new nickname for our cycle star – “Sweet Cheeks Boonen”

I think I’ll end this post by saying that I have no idea why I posted this. I have no idea why my gaydar went off while looking at that photo. I just don’t know. Australian Mathew Mitcham, the Olympics only openly gay athlete to win a gold medal, upsets China’s full sweep. Mitcham takes it all home in his near perfect Men’s 10M Platform dive.

Mitcham’s openly gay status is a landmark itself in the international world of sports. It is rare that an athlete comes out while still performing in sports. The stigma of being gay and an athlete at the same time can be tough. Because of that, gay sports fans and the community alike consider Mitchman a role model. Winning the gold medal more than celebrates his hard work as an athlete. It also shows the world that gay men and women are equal to their heterosexual counterparts in every aspect of life.

Of course with all good news there is also the bad. Here in the states, we’re in the midst of a nation coming to terms with it’s gay citizens. In light of that there are gay watchdogs everywhere. From getting anti-gay advertising pulled to calling out public personalities for anti-gay remarks and slurs. The Mathew Mitcham story is different in that his real story was completely ignored by one of our top news networks.

Our own NBC, news network, has proudly brought a sense of family to it’s reporting of sports. Often citing the personal relationships of athletes, big and small, local and international. These relationships include the athlete’s family members and their significant others. Yet when they covered Mitcham’s gold win there was no indication that he is openly gay. A choice by NBC that some of us in the gay community condemns them for. FanIQ says it best in an article written today by member blogger, 100%InjuryRate.

“My point is this. NBC went out of its way to let us know about the relationships – even showing us kisses – of a number of bigtime and smalltime athletes. But all the athletes were significant in some way. So was Mitcham. He prevented the Chinese from sweeping gold in diving. His story is truly one of the best of the Games.

The reason why is because the sports world is, for the most part, an incredibly macho arena. And many people, including both athletes and fans, have the mistaken belief that you can’t be gay and be an athlete. Letting viewers know that Mitcham is gay would’ve, in my mind, helped more people – athletes and fans – realize that any individual, regardless of their sexual orientation, can be a great competitor and an Olympic champion.”

Usually one’s sexuality shouldn’t be a factor in athletics or any other profession for that matter. But in the case, when a network makes it their business to bring in a personal touch, it should be. Not doing so misses the mark especially from the same network that brought us the widely popular and accepted Will and Grace television series.

In the first video below we see Matt with his mom, boyfriend and others. It really intensifies the emotion of his win. In the next video we see the complete competition with all the rounds including the gold medal win and the celebrations afterwards. At 15:00, it’s a long video but worth the time to watch especially if you missed it live.

Paul Donahoe 2007 NCAA Wrestling Championship

Just days after Paul Donahoe and Kenny Jordan were kicked off the wrestling team at the University of Nebraska, the Athletics Department deletes them from their archives. Queerty reports that photos of the two men have been removed from the school’s gallery pages. What it signifies is the they, the screw-ups, were never a part of the team.

If you’ve missed the story, Donahoe and Jordan were dismissed from their team after posing nude and performing sexual acts with themselves separately in videos for the gay website FratmenTV.

People crack me up over stuff like this. Do they really think that “gay” had nothing do with it. Please! Tell me another one (and I know you will).

If all the past stuff about these two are true. Then these guys were trouble from the get-go. But no, the university waits until they get national publicity on a bunch of gossip and gay sites before they do something about it. They could have ditched these guys for any one of their previous rule violations. What you are missing is the national publicity is associated with gay porn. If the U of NE were really sticklers they would of axed these guys long before now.

I would be willing to bet that if this were “straight” porn the coaches probably would of slapped them on the ass and said “Good job guys… Just don’t do it again!” Followed by a bunch of high-fives.

Before anyone thinks otherwise, I am not the kind of guy that goes around thinking everyone is out to get me because I’m gay. I don’t play that. I just see things like they are. This particular incident screams that wrestling will not be associated with anything gay. In my opinion, that’s exactly what this is all about.

The sport of wrestling has a very difficult time in disassociating itself with being dubbed the “gay sport”. Sometimes people need to read between the lines to understand what’s really going on.

Everyone stresses it’s because they got paid. Yes, that is true and it’s what the athletic department said. But it’s also what they were hoping for. They as much as said so. It sure looks better on them than backtracking and dismissing them for something they’ve done in the past. What’s also being missed here is if they weren’t looking for a way give these guys the boot, then they wouldn’t have pursued it in the first place. So, you see? It’s the “gay” coverage that pushed these guys over the cliff.

Before anyone says the same thing would of happened if they were paid for straight porn, think again. You don’t know that and neither do I. However, since it is a gay related story, that’s all we have to go on.

My point is; Drinking, bad behavior and minor run ins with the law go hand in hand with what a lot of teenagers experience. Obviously, it was all forgiven of these guys in the past. Those things have no sexual orientation ties. It’s hardly questionable that paid straight porn wouldn’t have been forgiven as well.

A Sad Day For Olympic Speedo Hunks

I completely missed all the talk this past winter about what the U.S. and Aussie boys were going to be wearing in the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing. Imagine my disappointment when I saw for myself.. What the fuck? speedos, yes. But not the type of speedo I’m accustomed to seeing every four years. I am devastated, I tell you. Just devastated!

That devastation doesn’t come without it’s fair share of shame either. I was ashamed of my disappointment in the new LZR Razor suits being worn by our swimmers. The suit is manufactured by Speedo and the material was developed by NASA. The shame I felt stems from my competitive nature. You see, I’m an avid sports fan. It’s not all about eye candy for me. I love competition and I love the adrenalin rush I feel when my team wins in any sport. I should like the new suits because they give the guys an advantage as opposed to its skimpy predecessor.

But this year was different. After watching our swim solos and teams a couple of times I found myself not interested in watching as much as in previous Olympic years. I was content just looking for updates to see if Michael Phelps got the gold or not. That’s a shame!

I never realized I had a speedo fetish. How could I? It’s not like I surf the internet for hot guys in speedos. Hot guys, yes! But speedos, not necessarily. If I come across one who just happens to be wearing a speedo and I think he’s hot then I’ll take a look but usually it’s not his swimsuit that I find sexy. Though I am partial to a white squarecut. But that’s not the styles previously worn in the Olympics by most of the participants.

The new LZR suits make the guys look mechanized to me. It’s just not the same! Jake and I were watching the other night and my sister walks in and asks, “is that men or women swimming?” My answer, “fuck! You can’t tell the difference?”

By the way, I’d like to send a huge congrats to Phelps and his successes this year. Way to go Michael! He is now the single athlete with the most Olympic gold medals!

I should also mention the new suits are very controversial amongst the competing teams. The material developed by Nasa resists drag and allows the body to move through the water with much less resistance. As a result, since the suit’s manufacture swimmers have been breaking records like crazy.

That’s Ben Cohen’s abs covered in his sexy & wet man-fur. Ben Cohen, England Rugby star won GT’s (Gay Times; a U.K. gay magazine) award for Sports Personality of the year. In recent years it’s been David Beckham who takes the top spot for this award. Becks still chimed in at 2nd place.

Cohen also took second prize for Sexiest Man of the Year behind actor John Barrowman. Cohen said, “I’m really flattered and am constantly surprised by the amount of attention I get from gay people — to win these awards from gay Times is just brilliant.”

Water Polo Parents Reach Boiling Point Over Gay Sites

High School students in Orange County have shown up on the internet on at least 5 gay porn sites. Parents were furious when the images were discovered of their teens who play on various water polo teams throughout the county and surrounding areas. On some of the sites the students are listed as aged 18 and above but the parents say some of the boys on the teams are as young as 14.

There are two photographers that are known to have taken the photos at the local sporting events.

The problem is not the actual photographs as most of them are not suggestive but some do draw attention to the athlete’s swim wear and one photo shows a player adjusting his suit with a teammate curiously looking on which could be mistakingly viewed as suggestive in nature. None of the photos are erotic but have been placed along side “action pornography” photos in some sites and that is what has parents upset.

One employee of the University of California was suspended while the University investigates because he was found to have been credited for some of the photos.

So far no wrong doing on the part of the photographers have been confirmed since they were taken at public events. The photographers claim they have a right to do whatever they want with the photos but that may not be case if they are used for commercial purposes or displayed along with porn.

I came across the story of Dick and Rick Hoyt, a.k.a. Team Hoyt, about a year ago on a national network. Upon that first viewing I was touched deeply and I believe I cried (yeah, I do that sometimes). Rick is the son of Dick Hoyt and the duo makes an astounding example of the love and compassion between a father and son.

Rick Hoyt was born in 1962 with cerebral palsy resulting from being strangled by the umbilical cord during his birth. Rick had no control over his limbs nor would ever be able to speak. His parents were told their child had no chance of development and it was recommended that Rick be institutionalized. Rick’s mother and father, Dick and Judy Hoyt, wouldn’t hear of it. They were determined to give their son a normal life as much as possible and they did just that.

What would happen over the next 45 years is more than a story of relentless love and compassion. It’s a story of determination and motivation that transcends the world of the handicapped and parenthood. They Hoyt’s “you can” motto and attitude is the ultimate inspiration in itself and can encourage anyone in everyday life – yeah, it’s that powerful.

His parents knew it all along but at about age 10 engineers from Tufts University learned that Rick could communicate when they told him a joke and he laughed. With $5000 raised by his parents the engineers built an interactive computer that Rick could control with his head. His first words when they brought the computer home were “Go Bruins.” At the time the Boston Bruins were in the Stanley Cup finals and it was at that moment his parents knew he liked sports.

A few years later Rick told his dad he wanted to participate in a 5-mile to benefit a lacrosse player that had been paralyzed in an accident. Rick’s out of shape father agreed to push his son in a wheel chair. The pair came in second to last but in their minds they were second to none. Rick told his parents that while they were running he didn’t feel handicapped.

It was that feeling of freedom that inspired what would become Team Hoyt. Now at ages 67 and 45 the father and son team have completed nearly 1000 events. Including a cross country trek on bike and foot for 3,735 miles in 45 days in 1992. That’s a milestone by the highest standards. There is no end in sight as the Team Hoyt’s calendar indicates.

It’s started out as short runs and then led marathons and triathlons which meant that Dick had to learn to swim for the first time. He said when he first started training for the triathlons he’d sink like a rock. Whether Dick is pushing his son Rick in a wheelchair, riding a bike with his son strapped to the handlebars or swimming with his in a boat tied to his waist they always cross the finish line.

The media coverage always focuses on Dick Hoyt being the hero and Rick Hoyt is the first to agree. In an interview he typed, “No question about it, my dad is the father of the Century.”

While that is certainly true it also goes a lot deeper than that. They inspire each other and set the perfect example of what can be achieved through dedication and commitment.

They don’t just do this for themselves either. It may have started out that way but now it’s just as much about helping others too. And not just in the world of handicapped individuals. Team Hoyt is regularly out on motivational speaking tours across the US where they speak not only for handicapped and athletic organizations but also large corporate functions for the pure motivational aspect.

Rick Hoyt has also had his own of impressive accomplishments. He graduate Boston University and is now employed at the Boston College computer lab where he is helping to develop an eye-controlled system to be used by patients in controlling mechanical devices such as wheelchairs.

The Dallas Cowboys and Indianapolis Colts both suffered huge upsets in the Sunday Divisional Playoff games. Both were expected to win but both are out for the season and both lost by 4 points. The San Diego Chargers beat the Colts 28-24 and the Giants continued their road-win streak with 21-17 over the Cowboys.

But… I don’t care what the critics, analysts, announcers and whoever else says. The Giants were not the Road Warriors everyone is touting them to be. They did not win this game because they were “good enough” to beat the Cowboys. Eli Manning is not that good – sorry. They won because the Cowboys tried too hard, they let emotion get the best of them and then of course there is the Drama King – T.O.

On the other hand, Eli’s brother, Peyton Manning and the Colts were not good enough to beat the Chargers on Sunday. The Chargers played well and deserved to win that game. The Giants didn’t play better than the Cowboys but they still got the victory. The Cowboys should have won. It came down to trying too hard that resulted in mistakes and penalties. They could have and should have won despite all that. But there was another factor that was too powerful to overcome. And, that is emotion – bad emotion.

Anyone who knows anything about football knows about Terrell Owens. He’s got a big mouth and doesn’t know when to keep it shut. He’s a key player no matter which team he has played for. He’s the guy that makes the big plays. He’s also the guy that misses the big plays. He’s the guy that gets pissed when he feels his mishaps are someone else’s mistakes. He’s also the guy that says “oops – haha” and laughs it off when he knows it’s his own fault. In short, T.O is a whiner in full Drama King dress.

T.O. lost the game on Sunday and here’s why. Although the score was tied 14-14 at halftime the ‘Boys dominated the first half of the game offensively. The Giants came back after the half with a different defensive strategy which was to apply more pressure on Romo. Because of that pressure Romo had some trouble in and out of the pocket getting the plays off. Their running game was also tightened up by a more robust defense. But the Cowboys were still in the game and had every chance of winning it. That is until…

Tony Romo throws a defense-forced sloppy pass Owen’s way. T.O. was near the end zone and it would have been a touchdown pass and catch had Romo been able to throw a perfect pass. The Cowboys had to punt the ball and then we see T.O. work his ill-magic that would ultimately ruin the game. On the sidelines Romo is walking towards T.O. who appears to be mouthing off at him. Romo acknowledges him and gestures “whatever” with a hand/arm motion and keeps walking past T.O. At that point the Cowboys were up by 3 in the 3rd quarter but I knew they’d lose the game by what had just transpired. And they did.

My thoughts were confirmed when T.O. was not included on the next couple of plays. After he was back in the game Romo threw a perfect pass intended for Owens. But the ball sailed right through Owen’s hands. What does he do? He looks up and grins all the way back to the huddle as if to say “oops-hehe.” What a jerk!

Normally the team would just dismiss and blow off the T.O. antics. But this was a playoff game. Team spirit was paramount. They were all also enthusiastic that T.O. was able to play after recovering from a high ankle sprain which caused him to miss the last game of the regular season. The Cowboys also lost that last game to a divisional rival, the Washington Redskins. Owens has been a important part of the Cowboys Offense and was critical in the winning the game on Sunday. He knew it, they knew it. So his action and mood effected the entire team as did Romo’s.

T.O. is not Romo and Cowboy’s only problem though. Romo gets his own fair share of negative attention from fans and the media because of his high-profile “player” status. I’m not talking football. I’m talking celebrity dating. First it was Carrie Underwood and now it’s Jessica Simpson. Romo vacationed in Mexico with Jessica, her family and a few of Romo’s Cowboy buddies during the Cowboy’s bye week.

The media has had a field day with this one saying that Romo should have been studying the books and play tapes instead of vacationing in Mexico. Who knows, maybe he did study. He says he just wanted to get away from people and the press. T.O. fessed up in an NFL interview with Dion Sanders and said he gave them the trip as an apology for what he’d said about Jessica ruining a game for them a few weeks ago against the Eagles. The media is already blaming Sunday’s loss on the Mexico trip.

Here’s what T.O. has to say about it after the game and the loss:

T.O. sounds sincere and he probably is. It’s hard to fake tears after losing a game like this. But I also think he’s making himself purposely look like more of a team player than he really is at times. Anyone who knows T.O. knows it’s all about himself to T.O. Although, I will admit, this year he has seemed to have grown up a little more in that respect than in years past. But still, T.O is T.O and that won’t easily change.

This brings me to the future of the Cowboys. Starting with T.O., it may sound like I would think they should trade him but I wouldn’t want that. He’s too good, too valuable and too much money has been spent on him already. The solution is to keep him but tone him down a notch or two from a coaching perspective. A little outside therapy probably wouldn’t hurt either. He’s matured a lot this year and hopefully he will continue to grow in that respect by realizing he personally has a profound affect on his team. Terry Glenn is back and off the injury list and can be just as affective if not more. Also there is Patrick Crayton. Crayton is young but has lots of potential to be a star player himself. And of course there is Marion Barber who had a stellar season and rushed for over 100 yards the first half during Sunday’s game. Really, they should have won! Jason Witten has also proven himself this year. The Cowboys have plenty of weapons.

They need to fill in the holes with some good backup players and solidify the offensive line a little more. The Cowboys have all the weapons they need but they lack the support to help them consistently make the big plays. Maybe more importantly, they need to coach the emotions into what could easily be a well oiled machine.

None of this will happen unless they get the coaching situation ironed out and do it in a hurry if they expect to show anything for it next year. With Garrett and Sparano both interviewing for outside jobs because of their accomplishments this year there’s no doubt there will be changes in the coaching staff. Those interviews took place during the bye week and could have been a small part of a confidence factor in Sunday’s loss but it certainly wasn’t a major factor.

The future of the Cowboys depend on a lot of things. They probably will make the playoffs again next year. They’re too good not to. They probably won’t win the Super Bowl. At the very least least they won’t set an NFL record for being the first #1 seed team to lose a divisional playoff game. They did that on Sunday. This was Romo’s first full year of playing as a starting quarterback. In that respect he did very well breaking all sorts of records for the franchise even those previously held be Danny White and Troy Aikman. Romo will definitely lead the ‘Boys to a Super Bowl victory but maybe not until the 2009-2010 season which is just in time for this:

The Dallas Cowboys have won 5 Super Bowls in franchise history. They’ve also been to the Super Bowl 8 times, more than any other team in the NFL. America’s Team may be out of the race to the biggest game of the year this time but they’re not down for good. There’s no doubt, Romo and Da ‘Boys have been and will be a forced to be reckoned with.

Quick Take: Packers’ miracle season lives on

The Green Bay Packers broke a franchise record for scoring in the playoffs on Ryan Grant‘s 1-yard touchdown run on the opening drive of the fourth quarter in near blizzard conditions. The touchdown put the Packers up 42-20, breaking the previous?record by one point and sealing their spot in the NFC Championship game.

Quick Take: Pats’ perfect season continues

Jaguars WR Dennis Northcutt dropped a potential third-down touchdown pass in the third quarter, preventing Jacksonville from matching the Patriots point-for-point. The Jaguars settled for a 39-yard Josh Scobee field goal that made the score 21-17, until New England drove down the field for a nine-yard Ben Watson touchdown (his second of the day) for a two score lead with just over a quarter remaining. Patriots safety Rodney Harrison sealed it with a late interception.

Farve & the Packers whooped up on Seattle in today’s NFC Playoff Game. The final was 42-20 on a snow covered white field. The more snow that fell the better Packer’s game.

The first quarter looked bad for the Packers as they were down 14-0 after two early turnovers during some light flurries. As the snow started getting heavier so did the Packers who dominated the remainder of the game and scored on all six trips to the red zone.

The Patriots hosted the Jacksonville Jaguars who gave them a run for the money as the score was 14-14 at the half. But the Jags couldn’t hang on to their opening momentum resulting in dropped balls on what would have been huge plays. Jag’s quarterback Gerrard was on target throughout the game but his receivers were ultimately no match.

Patriots quarterback, Brady led his team to a victory continuing their perfect season with a win over the Jags at 31-20 in the final. Brady is a “thinking” quarterback and it paid off at least twice in this important playoff game. Once when he faked a hand-off but kept the ball tucked in to his midsection and turned his back to the defense while raising his left arm straight up as if in a Liberty pose. The Jag’s defense bought it hook line and sinker as the reacted to a run play. Then Brady turns around and belts the ball into the end zone for a touchdown. The second time was when Brady “acted” like he was roughed up a little more than he really was (probably). The result; a 15 yard penalty against the Jags and a 1st down for the Pats who went on to score another touchdown.

It seems that every time I write an article on a subject that is deemed predominantly “straight” such as football I always get nasty comments and/or emails. These come from people (mostly straight men) who seem to think a gay man has no business writing about “their” coveted “he-man” stuff. As a result I have refrained from posting many of these. It’s depressing and I don’t really like dealing with those comments or emails. No more! Why should I let someone else dictate what I can or cannot write about. Pushing the delete button is easy enough to deal with those types of reactions and I’ve certainly grown enough in my securities to not allow trash talk effect me personally.

This is football season and I love the game. I don’t like all sports but I do like football. I don’t care to play football but I love to watch it. To the contrary, I love playing baseball but I don’t like watching it on TV – it’s boring. And, basketball I usually can’t stand it. Well, except when I lived in Chicago during the Bulls 3-peat seasons, now that was awesome.

I recently ran across a study that was published this past October. It’s about American high school football and homosexual behaviors amongst the players. The following article is reprinted with permission via the creative commons license and was originally published by UK Gay News. This is a good read but it serves another purpose. Not all fans or even players of the game are totally straight. Who knew – Yeah, right!

Ok, so the sample of men were from the cheerleading squads. That’s not the point. The point is they played football and wanted to play in college but didn’t make the cut. Who knows why because this article doesn’t say. I wouldn’t be surprised to learn that for some of them it might because they are too open about discussing their sexual experiences.

The bad news is we’re a long way off from a study like this being done with players who currently play in college football or even pro for that matter. No one currently “in the game” would dare admit to any homosexual behavior for fear of losing their ability to play.

I couldn’t resist this one even though this is photo is already flying across the internet at the speed of light. Footballer [soccer] and sports icon David Beckham proudly shows off in this first released photo of the Armani underwear ad campaign.

In recent weeks it was reported that Beckham signed a multi-million dollar deal with Armani for it’s 2008 underwear line as Armani tries to compete in the American men’s underwear market with rival Calvin Klein.

I would say Beckham definitely has what it takes when it comes to playing ball with the Armani Underwear collection. Unless CK makes some sort of miracle defensive play themselves, they just might find they’ll lose a big chunk of their coveted market share. Let the games begin!

Beckham draws attention regardless of sex. Women will buy the underwear for their men because Beckham is hot, he’s sexy and sex sells. Men will buy it because they look up to Beckham as a sports figure who has it all, he’s a man’s man. And, well…gay men will buy because of all of the above.

Besides the Cowboys, the Packers are one of my favorite teams in the NFL. I have a great deal of respect for Greenbay’s Quarterback Bret Farve as an athlete and person in general. Farve was hurt today with a bruised elbow and separated shoulder. As a result he wasn’t able to finish off the game which was a disappoint for both the Packers fans and Farve. But his backup QB Aaron Rodgers played well the second half of the game as he put up some impressive numbers and throwing his first regular season touchdown pass.

Rodgers brought the Packers back in the game to within a 3 point lead making the score 27 – 24 from a 27-10 point spread when Farve was injured. But that wouldn’t be good enough to beat the ‘Boys. Rodgers managed to get one more field goal to bring their points to 27 while the Cowboys sealed the game with a 10 point win at 37.

Farve had his first interception since his last 139 pass attempts. He would go on to give up a second interception, the same play that resulted in his game ending injury. Farve didn’t have a good day even before the injury. During the first half he only threw for 56 yards and had no touchdown passes. The Packers have lost their last 9 games playing at Dallas’ home field.

The two teams were tied before the match up at 10-1 both leading their divisions in the NFC East Conference. The Dallas Cowboys now lead the Conference with 11-1 and should have home field advantage during the playoffs. The Cowboys are second only to the AFC’s New England Patriots who remain undefeated at 11 – 0. Dallas’ one loss was to the Patriots in week 6 where they lost 47 – 27. The Patriots play the Baltimore Ravens Monday, December 3rd.

The Cowboys continue to set franchise records. The team has never had a better start than 9 – 1 and they’re only 1 win a way from tying the most wins in a season. Today Romo set a new franchise record as he threw his 33rd touchdown pass in a season. Patrick Crayto holds a new record for the most receiving yards at 524. Terrell Owens tied a franchise record with 14 touchdowns for a season. The ‘Boys are on fire.

Cowboys over Redskins 28 – 23. Yeah!!! This was one of those games where a win is a win no matter how it happens. That being said, it wasn’t pretty for the majority of the game. The Washington Redskins came into this game wanting it badly and it showed as they led the Dallas Cowboys 10 – 7 at halftime. The Cowboys came into the game thinking they were going to walk away with it which is sometimes the worst thing a team can do. The Boys had some troubles that looked like it really soured some attitudes on the team. The Cowboy’s Center, Andre Gurode, snapped some bad balls and even once hitting Tony Romo in the face mask. Another time, Gurode sent the ball sailing over Romo’s head leaving him to run after it. That bad snap led to a Redskins interception. Even Romo, who always shakes things off was showing signs of disappointment for a while until he and Owens were able to connect and bring the game home.

The 2^nd half was a different story and in true form for the Cowboys in turning the game around. Terrell Owens caught the ball for 3 touchdowns in only 11 plays in the 3^rd and 4^th quarters and was the only player to score for the Cowboys in the game. Still, the Skins fought till the end nearly taking the game in the final seconds but couldn’t pull it off. In those final moments Terrance Newman intercepted a might-be touchdown pass for the Redskins and on the final play Owens, playing defense, batted down a hopeful ball thrown by Redskins Quarterback Jason Campbell.

Despite the not-so-easy win, Terrell Owens put up some of his best numbers. With 4 touchdowns he tied a franchise record. The game brought him over 1000 receiving yards this season and 12 touchdowns. He is only one touchdown shy of the his 13 for all of last season and 4 away from his season career high with the San Francisco 49ers in 2001. At 33 yrs old Owens is in his 12^th season of pro football.

The Cowboys play the New York Jets on Thanksgiving Day. Then one week later is the big game with the Green Bay Packers. Both the Packers and the Cowboys are currently 9 & 1 and it is very likely they’ll head into their match-up each with 10 wins and one loss under their belts. Both lead their divisions in the NFC – it should be one of the best games of the year. Unfortunately, unless you have NFL Network on Cable or Satellite or live in a local broadcast (Dallas or Green Bay) area for either team you won’t be able to see the game televised live. The Cowboys only loss this season was to the New England Patriots who remain the NFL’s only undefeated team.

I don’t write much about sports on this blog and I won’t in the future. In fact, I had a widget on here that kept up with all sports scores but recently took it off. One, I don’t really like all sports and two; there’s really not an audience for it on this blog. But I love them ‘Boys! So I apologize up front if there are any other football fans out there that read this blog and like teams other than the Cowboys. I say that because you won’t see me writing anything much about the other teams and probably not that much about the Cowboys.

I really only have one gripe about the Cowboys and that is how careless Andre Gurode can be at snapping the ball. He’s been with Dallas 6 seasons now and has always made mistakes from time to time but the last couple of seasons have gotten pretty bad and he’s come close to contributing a loss of a few games including this one. Maybe it’s time to fire his ass! But to his defense he does do his part in keeping the defense off the quarterback and he’s effective with the QB sneaks.

Did I mention Romo is a totally adorable? Yes, I think I have. Sorry, didn’t mean to shock those who came to this page from a search engine. This site is geared towards a gay audience if you didn’t already know.

This is just in. It’s one of those off-the-wall stories I’m having a difficult time confirming. Nevertheless newsworthy because Beckham mania is still ripe across the globe. According to UK’s Metro an Australian radio station has struck a deal with the hotel that David Beckham will be staying for this week’s upcoming football (soccer) game on Friday featuring the England and Australian teams.

The prize; a free stay in the same room that Beckham stayed in after he checks out leaving it uncleaned. The radio station riled up the contest by stating that often Beckham leaves behind some of his own dirty laundry in hotel rooms. It’s no secret that Becks only wears his undies once, thus spending approximately 10k per month for that fresh feeling. In related news, Becks just signed a $40 million deal with Armani and will be featured in an upcoming 2008 ad campaign for its underwear line.

The contestants are being asked to call, text or email their reasons why they should be the lucky winner. Metro reports the phone lines were so congested it caused a local phone outage.

I’ll update this story with the radio station name, etc. as I get it. My real question is; Can a radio station and hotel do this without Beckham’s agreement? That’s assuming there is no agreement. If it is legit then I would have to assume that Beckham is a part of it. After all, the guy is known for marketing himself as a sex icon the world over.

This morning on the radio I heard the tail end of a story that said Romo partied with Spears in LA. This was KISS 106.1 FM in Dallas. Of course those idiots made it sound like it was some big deal.

After picking my jaw up off the floor I yelled outloud to my friends “Say it ain’t so, please!” The article from People.com said:

Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo partied with Britney Spears and pals in Los Angeles on Friday, according to People.com.

After a long court hearing in her custody battle, Ms. Spears hit the town with longtime friend Alli Sims. The pop star, dressed in a masquerade ball mask, and Ms. Sims, first made a quick stop at the restaurant Ketchup where Mr. Romo was having dinner.

“Alli was meeting up with Tony and his friends at Ketchup and Britney wanted to come along,” one source said. “Tony and Alli have been good friends. They’ve known each other for a little over a year.”

Later, Mr. Romo met up with Ms. Sims, Ms. Spears and others at the Hollywood hotspot Les Deux, where they hung out for a friendly low-key night upstairs.

Much to my relief it turned out that they were just in the same place at the same time but they did end up at another place at the same time. However, they were amongst mutual friends adn not “together,” thank you jebus!

Britney’s camp says, “Britney is presently attending co-parenting class. Tony Romo is a friend of Alli Sims and there is no interest on Britney’s part.”

Late Monday night at Plano’s (in Texas) newest hip hangout, Jerseyvile Tony Romo made an appearance. The interest of the night was on him and the tabloid news of Britney Spears. When asked about the hookup Tony shrugged his shoulders and said, “It comes with the territory. If the territory includes a $67.5-million payday, can it really be so bad?” This was part in reference to the other big news Romo made on Monday. Which was signing a 67.5 million dollar 6-year contract with the Dallas Cowboys.

Romo previously dated Carrie Underwood (American Idol winner) although both said they went out dates but weren’t “dating.” He’s also been seen out with One Tree Hill’s Sophia Bush. There were rumors late last year that he was dating Jessica Simpson but those rumors were false.

What do Romo, Underwood and Spears have in common? Tony Spears and Underwood can sing but can Tony Romo? Decide for yourself. Romo joins Saved by the Bell’s Dennis Haskings (Mr. Belding) and rock band Metal School on a cover of Journey’s “Don’t Stop Believing.”
