I found it very interesting to discover that one of the top search phrases on Google for gay related keywords is the phrase, “Am I gay?”
I am not the only person that owns a website who is aware of this. There are hundreds of gay quizzes out there. Most are just silly and just want your email address for marketing. I’ve ran across these quizzes before. You can find them anywhere, especially on personal pages like MySpace. I’ve always taken them lightly because usually it’s just another form of a joke being played on the reader.
You would think that a person would know if he is gay, straight or bisexual. The answer is pretty simple really. It’s the gender(s) you are attracted to. To put it more bluntly and since this site is geared towards gay males; it’s who makes your dick get hard. You either know you’re gay, know you’re not or somewhere in between. Simple as that.
However, since people are asking search engines if they are gay with the phrase, “Am I gay?” there must be some seriousness to it. Right? So I decided to implement my own experiment that should answer the question, “Are you gay?” Please note this is obviously for males only. Of course, if you are female and this totally repulses you then you may be a lesbian — duh!

I agree with you mostly about the 100% thought. Well… with the exception of one of my ex boyfriends. He had to run to the bathroom to puke while trying to make out with a girl as a teenager. We’ve talked about this before. And, yes I agree with you. I used to watch straight porn every chance I got. Especially when I was still in the closet and I found some of the girls hot too. Obviously I’m not repulsed by them, I was married for several years and have two kids. A woman can turn me on without any problems but usually she’d have to make the first move. So apparently I’m not 1000% gay, lol. But I can say if I’m with a guy that I’m attracted to there are no sexual reservations whatsoever. For me that’s what defines my homosexuality.
The money shots are there for a reason. Of course straight guys fantasize about it being them in place of the actor but the fact remains it’s another guy performing and the viewer is turned on. At one point in my life I even tried to convince myself that all guys were at least a little bit gay because of that reason. As I got older and more experienced and watched gay videos too I knew that it was also about the act, not just who the performers are. In straight videos I’m sure it’s the girl action that gets the guys turned on but for me it was more watching the male actor working his body and his climax at the end.
While I have found women attractive and have had sex with a few of them I have to be honest and admit that I’ve never actually masturbated while fantasizing even one. I’d be liar if I said the same about men.

I am married to a woman who identifies as queer–probably a 3 or 4 on the Kinsey scale. I’d say I’m just about a 2. We discuss our sexuality openly with one another and are, in theory only thus far, polyamorous.
Being highly sexed, I look at porn a fair bit. Most of it is of women. I’d like to get more pictures of men, but I find much of gay porn too graphic, active, and forceful. I liked the first picture because he’s perhaps more my type, but also because it is passive–he’s just lying there, exposing a little, leaving my imagination to work. I’d like to see more male nudes just posing (more sensual than overtly sexual?). I do enjoy some gay, ffm and mmf images and videos too, sometimes.

One thing I am really fascinated about is that your wife identifies as queer. You don’t have to answer but I’m curious to know how that works for both of you sexually. I assume you don’t mean she’s 100% lesbian. I mean if that were the case then how could she be attracted to you sexually (other than physical stimulation) unless there was another female involved. I’m probably getting too personal but honestly, it struck my curiosity
I believe in 100% one way or the other. I am 100% gay and I have never pretended to be anything other than that. Women have never been attractive to me nor will they ever be, although they are my best friends in many cases. How can you not believe that?
I think most people that say they are bisexual are fooling themselves. It’s a cop out; you can seem to be halfway normal so it’s a lot safer to pretend like you are bi than to admit to being gay. There was a small study done by a University that backed this up. Look it up.

I agree some men fit the profile just as you say. I was one of them. After spending years in the closet I finally convinced myself I was bi. I was also married during those years and enjoyed sex with my wife. I’ll admit that any sexual experiences I’ve had with women were not physically initiated by me. I may have started it or suggested it but I always found some way to coax her into a physical activity just so I could get hard.
It wasn’t until I met a man I fell deeply in love with that I was finally willing to admit to myself and everyone else that I was gay. I even lied to him in the beginning telling him I was bisexual. Yet I always knew it was men that turned me on sexually.
My story is my own and that does not mean that I think everyone is 100% gay or straight. I just don’t buy that school of thought. Though I did lean towards that belief for a brief period when I first came out as a gay man. I thought since I identified as bisexual but was really gay then all the other bisexual men must be gay too and just afraid to admit it.
I didn’t realize how wrong I was until one day I walked in on a bi-buddy of mine wanking his fully erect hardon to an all girl video he was watching on his mac. In my opinion, the only study worth studying is a man’s own mind. We’re all different, it’s as simple as that. When it comes to sexual orientation it’s who you are attracted to that turns you on sexually. For physical proof, a man’s dick is the only reference that really counts in the end. In other words, it’s whatever mental or visual stimuli that causes a man’s dick to become erect. I’m also not necessarily referring to the photos I have posted here, we’re all attracted to different types and some people aren’t turned on by photos at all. To them, it’s just not real enough. I leave out physical touch because most men can achieve an erection via physical stimulation no matter who’s doing it as long as they don’t block it mentally.
Anyway… Just my 25 cents (inflation, ya know).

My partner does not identify as lesbian. She uses the word queer because queer to her simply means other than wholly straight. Our sex was very passionate the first few years together and, while we still enjoy each other sexually 15 years later, we have both been desiring the other side from time to time. Yet while she did have a same sex encounter once, I never have. I don’t know what an actual encounter might do in terms of my same-sex attraction. I’ve ever only fantasized.
In terms of personality, people have often thought I was more feminine, and some have thought I was gay. I don’t mind. The hard-on test, however, if I can put it that way, confirms a much quicker reaction to female nudity than male nudity. Yet I can easily get turned on by an attractive male. I think we are complex sexual beings–too complex, indeed, to fit everyone into one or another category. I think training, too, has much to do with it. For most of my early adulthood, I refused to admit any attraction to men, so I focused only on women.
We too easily try to divide everyone and everything into neat dichotomies–black/white, male/female, hetero/homo, good/bad, etc. I simply think we are sexual beings who can find a variety of sexual experiences pleasurable, even though some gravitate more towards one side than another.

That reminds me, a few months back I created a graph that illustrates sexual orientation from my point of view. I’ve never really liked labels that are gender specific so here’s what I came up with…
That is a neat graph, though I think Kinsey’s scale is easier to read
. Even better–certainly more complex–is the Klein Sexual Orientation Grid (http://www.bisexual.org/kleingrid.html). I haven’t filled it out for myself, but I have read some of Klein’s work, as also the quarterly Journal of Bisexuality (http://www.bisexual.org/kleingrid.html) published by Haworth Press. Very interesting, engaging and important in breaking through needless barriers erected by elements within both the straight and gay communities.
Serious sexologists, it seems to me, tend to see much more complexity in human sexuality and rarely reinforce rigid and divisive dichotomies. I find, and I don’t mean to offend anyone here, that those claiming sexuality goes strictly one way or another tend to base their claims on personal subjectivity and/or simplistic science (i.e. Rieger’s arousal tests at Northwestern University that recently spawned headlines claiming bisexuality didn’t exist).
Sorry for my rather long and somewhat academic comments, but my stance is that if I feel attraction to (and can jerk off to) both attractive men and women, then I’m bisexual. Of course anything can be defined into and out of existence…
